Andrew Whitehouse

Andrew has spent much of his career on cross border business. Most recently he has led Smith Square Partners’ drive into more internationally focussed transactions advising multi-national clients on deals outside their domestic markets as well as developing the firm’s strong links with its partners in Europe, Asia and the US.

Over a career spanning 30 years Andrew has advised a number of different European governments on complex privatisation transactions, been involved in a broad array of cross border M&A deals in Europe, Asia, the US and Latin America and been seconded to a large European multi-national to advise on acquisitions and joint ventures in Europe.

He started his career at J Henry Schroder Wagg (acquired by Citigroup in 1999), initially working on M&A transactions for UK companies. He became head of the firm’s emerging markets financial institutions practice in 1997 and a managing director. Prior to joining Smith Square Partners, Andrew spent seven years at Hakluyt and Company, the strategic intelligence firm. Andrew has an MA in English from Oxford University.
