Smith Square Partners advises Home REIT plc on its review of strategic options

On 16 February 2023, Home REIT plc (“Home REIT”) announced a review of strategic options for the company following the suspension of its shares on 3 January 2023. The company also announced that it had received an unsolicited approach from Bluestar Group Limited (“Bluestar”).

On 23 May 2023, Home REIT announced that it had entered into an agreement with AEW UK Investment Management LLP (“AEW”), under which AEW was appointed as the Company’s property adviser, prior to AEW’s appointment as AIFM and Investment Manager on 21 August 2023.

Smith Square Partners acted as sole financial adviser to Home REIT on its review of strategic options, including advice in relation to the Company’s investment management arrangements, engagement with Home REIT’s lender and potential offerors for the Company and its assets. Smith Square also provided advice in relation to the Takeover Code regarding a possible offer for the Company from Bluestar.
